Using Quick Mark to enter Rent Control Signatures

For organizations collecting petition signatures, we have a way of logging these signatures in VAN. This is useful information to have so that you can continue to engage these individuals during election season and the year after.

Step 1

Take a photo or scan that clearly shows the names and addresses of petition signers. That way, you can continue to log data even after you hand completed petition sheets back to the campaign.

Step 2

In MyVoters, select “Quick Mark” under the “Load Data” menu on the home page. It will be the first option in the upper right corner.

Step 3

Select “Add a Survey Question”

Step 4

In the Survey Question dropdown, select “2025 Action: Rent Signer 25"

Step 5

The canvasser’s name can be yours; the date can be generally around when you collected the signatures.

Step 6

In the How dropdown, select how the signatures were gathered: - “Walk” for a door-to-door canvass - “Event” for an event you hosted - “Community Canvass” for tabling at a store, market, street corner, festival, etc.

Step 7

Select the Rent Stabilization campaign.

Step 8

Click to the next page and begin looking up signers using their names and addresses.

Step 9

Log the activist code by clicking the button or entering the date canvassed next to the correct voter’s name.

Step 10

Click “Save / Search.”
